An article published in Le Quotidien De L’Art by Melissa Smith highlights US-Based organizations supporting artists who are mothers.

“In 2019, Alisha Wormsley decided to launch a residency for Black mother artists in Pittsburgh, where she lives: Sibyls Shrine . When Covid hit, the artist used the funding to support online groups, which began to develop a growing, self-sustaining network of residents. Through various iterations of a traditional residency, Alisha Wormsley and her collaborator Jessica Gaynelle Moss connect artists to opportunities that nourish their practices (or themselves). As the program has grown, its ethos has evolved into a reflection on what matriarchy is ,” Wormsley says “And how to create systems of care   .”
